Imagine stepping into a time machine and being whisked away to the Roaring Twenties, where elegance, glamour, and a touch of whimsy define every detail. That’s exactly the enchanting experience guests had at Holly and John’s twenties-inspired wedding at Wayfarer’s Tavern and La Venta Inn, a celebration that was nothing short of magical.
Holly was a vision in her beaded gown reminiscent of a modern-day Daisy Buchanan…. In her own words: “If your dress does not make you feel beautiful, powerful, and strong – you need a new dress. I loved my dress – it made me feel incredible every second of the day, and I love looking at pictures of it. It took a really long time to find, but it was worth it. (Also – unless you have planning super powers – find a great coordinator – Lisa saved my life!)”
“Both the wedding chapel and the reception venue have strong design features. The reception venue was built in the 1920s, and while the chapel was designed in the 1940s, it has strong allusions to the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1920s – so we went with a subtle 20s theme! With that said, we wanted something refined (and to avoid pink boas), so we used the 1920s as inspiration for the colors, type fonts, and designs (and the 1920s art deco quartet that played during the cocktail hour!).”
“Walking down the aisle and seeing all of my friends and family with my (soon to be) husband at the end was the most incredible feeling. No single highlight, it was all perfect (though zipping around the cliffs in a little Porsche together, hearing the maid of honor, best man, and my father speak, and watching my mom get down on the dance floor are some of the best).”
“Family is the most important thing to us; having our wedding reception at the same venue where my parents were married was a dream. We also worked hard to make the ceremony a reflection of our beliefs as a couple – the wedding took place in a glass chapel built by the son of one of our favorite architects, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We have spent the last ten years driving up and down the coast together, so it felt like home. The ceremony itself blended our humanist beliefs with some more traditional ceremonial aspects out of respect and appreciation for our parents and grandparents.”
But it was the décor that truly stole the show. The reception area at La Venta Inn was a scene straight out of The Great Gatsby. Tables were adorned with glittering gold tablecloths, crystal candle holders, and lush floral arrangements that added a burst of color. The couple’s attention to detail was evident in every corner, and the dance party was truly amazing! As a photographer, lighting at venues like this is a dream, with romantic glowing candlelight for capture naturally for the most Old-Hollywood vibe.
